SUCCESS Phase 3 Begins: Cancer Warriors Foundation Prepares Iloilo Municipalities for Cervical Cancer Elimination Rollout 1

The Scale Up Cervical Cancer Elimination for Asia Pacific (SUCCESS FAP) initiative is entering a critical new stage in the Philippines. Beginning December 2025, the Cancer Warriors Foundation (CWF) will officially roll out Phase 3 activities in the municipalities of Carles, Estancia, and Lemery in Iloilo—communities identified as underserved and in need of accessible cervical cancer screening services.

This milestone marks a significant step in bringing life-saving prevention efforts to geographically isolated and disadvantaged areas (GIDAs), empowering local health systems to detect cervical disease early and protect thousands of women.

Strengthening the Groundwork: CWF Meets with Local Teams

To ensure a smooth and well-coordinated rollout, CWF CEO Ms. Carmen “Menchie” Auste and Past President Bing Quite convened a preparatory meeting with the data encoders and facilitators from the three partner municipalities. The session focused on aligning strategies, clarifying responsibilities, and creating a unified step-by-step plan that covers the entire screening process—from pre-implementation to full deployment.

The meeting highlighted three essential goals:

1. Build a Robust Pre-Implementation Framework

Local teams discussed the groundwork needed to prepare each municipality for the December rollout. This includes:

  • Community awareness and mobilization

  • Verification of eligible populations

  • Logistics for transportation, storage, and movement of HPV-DNA collection materials

  • Identification of collection sites, facilities, and local contacts

  • Ensuring proper documentation and adherence to the SUCCESS protocol

2. Establish a Clear and Practical Screening Workflow

The facilitators collaborated on a step-by-step workflow designed to streamline registration, informed consent, sample collection, data encoding, and specimen transport. The goal: a consistent, high-quality, woman-centered screening process across all three municipalities.

3. Empower Local Health Workers Through Alignment and Capacity-Building

CWF emphasized the role of data encoders and facilitators as frontline champions in the cervical cancer elimination effort. The meeting strengthened their understanding of responsibilities, boosted confidence, and reaffirmed the shared mission—to ensure that every eligible woman has access to reliable HPV-DNA testing.

A Shared Commitment to Protecting Women’s Health

The collaboration between CWF and the municipalities of Carles, Estancia, and Lemery reflects a powerful, community-driven model of public health partnership. By combining local leadership with CWF’s advocacy and technical support, SUCCESS Phase 3 is set to create a wide-reaching impact in the region.

As preparations accelerate, the Cancer Warriors Foundation remains committed to its promise: to give Filipino women—especially those in underserved and hard-to-reach areas—an equal chance to prevent cervical cancer and live healthier lives.

The December rollout is just the beginning. Together, these communities are taking bold steps toward a future where cervical cancer is not only treatable—but preventable and ultimately eliminated.
