Convenor to End Cervical Cancer in the Philippines and Founder of CerviQ – Dr. Bogs Rivera presented a sustainable solution to eliminate cervical cancer in the country using innovative technology during the First National Integrated Cancer Control Act Localization Summit held at Hotel Dominique in Tagaytay last December 11 and 12, 2023.


The two-day event was organized by Cancer Warriors Foundation, Inc. and Cancer Coalition Philippines, led by Civil Society Representative to NICCA – Ms. Carmen “Menchie” Auste (CEO of Cancer Warriors Foundation, Inc. and Vice President of the Cancer Coalition Philippines) aimed to close the cancer care gaps in healthcare by working with various stakeholders to improve healthcare accessibility and reducing distress from the financial toxicity of cancer treatment beginning from prevention, to screening, diagnosis, to treatment, follow-up care, and survivorship or bereavement care.
The forum was attended by representatives from selected LGU in Calabarzon, City Health Department Region 4-A, Provincial Health Officers – Calabarzon, City and Municipal Health Officers, Civil Society Organization and Private Sectors.
The forum opened realities and challenges of the cancer landscape and ecosystem, explored collaborative pathways and opportunities for localizing and operationalizing NICCA in Calabarzon in the context of the Universal Health Care.
