Manila Business College students aged 25 years and below were given Free HPV Vaccinations donated by the Inner Wheel Club of Makati in partnership with the Rotaract Club of Manila Business College and CerviQ.
“HPV vaccines are safe and reliable to protect young people from a range of HPV-related cancers and diseases”, says Ms. Jem Miciah Turla, a senior tourism operations officer of the Department of Tourism and currently the President of the Inner Wheel Club of Makati.

“We are adopting the single dose schedule set by the World Health Organization and the National Immunization Program (NIP) of Australia to kids beginning age 9 up to 25 years old who are not immunocompromised,” says Dr. Jeanne Valderama, president-elect of the Inner Wheel Club of Makati.

A total of 32 students were vaccinated – girls and boys who presented parental consent for vaccination despite being at the right age to decide for themselves.

Before this vaccination project, CERVIQ founder Dr. Bogs Rivera and a member of the Rotary Club of Manila South, delivered an HPV educational awareness weeks before to students of the Manila Business College to understand better what the vaccine is for, who should have it, and its safety profile. Due to the limited number of vaccine owing to its high cost, only the first 32 student presenting with parental consent gets to be vaccinated in the project.
No untoward incidents happened during the day and the vaccines were well tolerated by students.
