In the bustling community of Sitio Pagkakaisa, Sta. Ana, Pateros, a remarkable event unfolded on March 23, 2024, from 8:00 AM to 3:00 PM—the Pateros Medical Mission. Spearheaded by TGP Allan Palacio of the Rotary Club of Rizal West, in cooperation with Rtn. Tony Cama of People of Action, TGP Alexander Lopez of the Rotary Club of Makati F. Zobel, and supported by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, Dr. Eloisa Lat of the Rotary Club of Hope and Peace Builder, RCMFZ President-Elect Mary Jane Gourlay serving as the Mobility Assessor, and Dr. Bogs Rivera of CerviQ, this mission exemplified the power of collaboration in community health initiatives.
The Pateros Medical Mission offered a wide array of vital services to the residents, ranging from vision screenings and distribution of prescription glasses to ear-nose-throat check-ups, cervical cancer screenings, dental services, mobility assessments, therapeutic massages, and even complimentary haircuts, manicures, and pedicures. These services not only addressed immediate healthcare needs but also promoted holistic well-being among the community members.
Remarkably, the mission saw an impressive turnout, with a total of 251 individuals (97.7% of the registered 257) benefiting from the services provided. Among the standout statistics were the 100% completion rates for various medical services, including mobility screenings (9 out of 9 registered), dental services (21 out of 21 registered), ear-nose-throat check-ups (24 out of 24 registered), and cervical cancer screenings (17 out of 17 registered).
Moreover, the additional grooming services, such as therapeutic massages, free haircuts, and manicure/pedicures, were also well-received, with 100% participation rates from those registered.
The success of the Pateros Medical Mission was further amplified by the collaboration of various Rotary clubs and community organizations. Notable figures such as Top Gun Presidents Nell Basa of the Rotary Club of E-Club of Global City Manila, Dexter De Jesus of the Rotary Club Parañaque North, and Mylene Buaquen of the Rotary Club of Makati Rufino lent their support, alongside volunteer Rotarians and members of the Rotary Community Corps.
The impact of the mission extended beyond the services rendered on that day, leaving a lasting impression on the community. It symbolized unity, compassion, and the collective effort to improve the health and well-being of those in need. As the mission came to a close, the overwhelming participation and positive outcomes served as a testament to the transformative power of community-driven healthcare initiatives. The Pateros Medical Mission stood as a beacon of hope and a shining example of what can be achieved when individuals and organizations come together with a shared commitment to serve and uplift their community.
